TRAVEL with the cause!  You, too, can be personally involved on the ground with Flip Flop Friends!

 

Every year, we will take a select group of donors on our once-in-a-lifetime, bucket list trip to Kenya!! You will get a “locals” perspective as we visit Nairobi, the country’s capital, travel the countryside, visit the remote village of Nyakach, interact directly with the students and staff of Magunga Primary school, and tour both self drive and guided safaris!!   All for about 40% of the costs you would pay if booked in the United States - - plus, being a charity, you may be able to tax deduct much of your trip!!

 

What is required and what do you get:
 

• The trip is typically 3 weeks, plus or minus a few days (depends largely on air-fare and accommodations)
   

• We fly into Nairobi, and recuperate for 3-4 days.  At this time, we do a self drive safari tour into Nairobi Game Preserve.  We also visit both the Elephant and Giraffe Centers, places you will get touching distance to the animals!!
   

• We then drive approximately 4 hours to the village, stopping and touring as we go.  There, you have time to relax in the Eco-lodge, visit the marketplace, attend the school donation functions, and mingle with the villagers.  We are generally there for approximately 7-8 days.  You are also 40 minutes from Lake Victoria, and your driver can take you there for a day trip, or overnight.  At this time, the Charity Officers are often busy procuring the donation items (remember, everything is purchased in country and distributed direct!)
   

• We then travel to the first of maybe two or three game parks for daily safaris.  Every year, we check out different parks.  We are open to letting the group decide, as there are many!  Some specialize in large animals (elephants, rhinos), other specialize in cats (lions and cheetahs), and others are great for bird-watching.   We normally spend 7-9 days on safaris.
   

• We travel back to Nairobi, to again relax and take the flight home.  Typically, 1-2 days pre-trip rest.  The weekly Nairobi market is a must-see event!
   

• A minimum donation of $600.00 offers you (and your family) the trip itinerary.
   

• ALL ITINERARY schedules, airline bookings, hotel and lodge stays, safaris, and tour guides/drivers are arranged for you, BUT MUST BE RESERVED by you.   Your payment is made direct to each service or vendor.
   

• Once in country, you can venture out to anywhere, at anytime you wish.  Your driver can assist, you can leave and meet us later in the itinerary, you can take only half the trip.  Whatever you prefer.
   

• We will assist, when possible, in directing and assisting you with in-country costs…doing our best to insure you are not charged “The American rate”!
   

• The trip is always end of December, to mid-January (as the Kenyan school year goes from January to October).
   

• FAMILIES: If traveling with children, it will be required that you have your own driver and your own tour guides. 
   

• The expected costs, for approx. 3 weeks, all inclusive, including airfare, drivers, safaris, lodging is expected to be $5-6,000.00 per couple.
