Amy Okoth Mazzan, a proud native of Kenya, founded Flip Flop Friends in 2018 with a deep commitment to transforming lives through education. What began as an effort to provide flip flops for 500+ students at Magunga Primary School has grown into a mission that now provides shoes, school supplies, sanitary napkins, scholarships, and impactful projects that benefit over 900 students across three schools.
Magunga holds profound personal significance for Amy—her father attended the school, and her grandfather donated the land. For Amy, it symbolizes the transformative power of education. With a background in Political Science, Gender Studies, and Negotiations, she is dedicated to advancing education and empowering youth in Sub-Saharan Africa, believing that every child deserves the chance to succeed.
In addition to leading Flip Flop Friends, Amy excels as an Executive for a major tech company in Washington, D.C. Despite her demanding career, her heart remains with the children of Nyakach. Her vision is clear: education is hope, and hope is the foundation for a brighter future.
Join Amy and the Flip Flop Friends team in making a difference—together, we can change lives, one child at a time.
